Bosses come in all shapes and sizes. There are good ones and then there are the not so good ones. At some point we have all dealt with a bad boss, but did you know that prolonged exposure to bad boss conflict is actually detrimental to your health?

What Makes a Bad Boss:

Life is short, it can even feel shorter if you have a bad boss. Anna Nyberg, a researcher at the Stress Research Institute at Stockholm University, states, “If you are working under a boss who stresses you in a destructive manner and your possibilities or chances to change the situation are limited, you should try to change jobs as soon as possible.”

Research shows that three out of every four employees report that their boss is the worst and most stressful part of their job and 65% of employees said they would take a new boss over a pay raise. Ouch!

This begs the question, what makes a bad boss bad? Ironically, bad bosses don’t set out to be bad, in fact they may have the best of intentions, but that ‘good intention’ thinking often helps them justify or disregard their own bad behaviors.
